Gary Hoover
Professor of Economics and Executive Director of the Murphy Institute at Tulane University
Hoover is an expert in public policy and income redistribution. He is the current and founding editor of the Journal of Economics, Race, and Policy. In recent years, he has also served as President of the Southern Economic Association (2021-22) and Co-Chair of the Committee on the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession with the American Economic Association (2011-2024). He is the author of the forthcoming book, Ladder or Lottery: The Economics of the Social Contract (University of California Press).
